**Job Title: Recycling Worker**
**Job Description**
The Recycling Worker is responsible for collecting, sorting, and processing recyclable materials to ensure proper disposal and environmental sustainability. This role involves walking designated routes, identifying recyclable items, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
**Responsibilities**
+ Walk assigned areas to collect recyclable materials from bins, public spaces, and designated collection points.
+ Sort materials (paper, plastic, glass, metal) according to recycling guidelines.
+ Inspect items for contamination and remove non-recyclable waste.
+ Safely operate carts or equipment for transporting recyclables.
+ Maintain accurate records of collected materials and report any issues to supervisors.
+ Follow all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
+ Provide courteous assistance to the public when answering questions about recycling practices.
**Essential Skills**
+ Ability to walk long distances and lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to environmental sustainability.
+ Good communication and teamwork skills.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Previous experience in waste management or recycling preferred.
+ Ability to identify and separate recyclable materials (plastic, glass, metal, paper).
+ Experience using balers, compactors, forklifts, or conveyor systems.
+ Knowledge of OSHA standards and proper handling of hazardous materials.
+ Ensuring materials meet recycling standards before processing.

**Work Environment**
The work environment includes both outdoor and indoor settings, with exposure to varying weather conditions. The role requires physical activity, including walking, bending, and lifting. Dress appropriately for varying weather conditions and engage in both manual labor and equipment operation.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Charleston, SC.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.00/hr.
