Job Summary

If you're interested in an Advanced Level Recombinase Testing Specialist job , then this is the best role for you ! The biologist in this role will use molecular cloning, transient plant transformation, DNA extraction, DNA sample cleanup, and basic sequence analysis to test recombinase variants for activity and specificity. Candidates should have hands-on experience in a molecular biology laboratory environment and preferably experience with plant tissue culture.

Job Description

• Perform molecular cloning, including restriction/ligation, Gibson assembly, and Golden Gate.
• Conduct DNA extraction and purification.
• Perform basic sequence analysis using tools such as BLAST, CLC Workbench, or Geneious.
• Execute transient plant transformation (e.g., Agrobacterium-mediated).
• Support plant tissue culture work (preferred).
• Test recombinase variants and assess their activity and specificity.
• Maintain detailed experimental records and follow laboratory safety protocols.

Skills Required

• Core Technical Skills :

• Molecular cloning (restriction/ligation, Gibson assembly, Golden Gate)
• DNA extraction and purification
• Sequence analysis using common bioinformatics tools

• Plant Biology Experience :

• Transient plant transformation
• Plant tissue culture (preferred)

• Recombinase Testing :

• Understanding of site-specific recombination systems (Cre/lox, FLP/FRT, etc.)
• Ability to evaluate recombinase variant activity and specificity

• Soft Skills :

• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Education/Training/Certifications

• BA or BS in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Plant Biology, or a related field.

Additional Requirements

• Must pass a drug screening and criminal background check
• Shift : 09:00 AM
• Working Conditions :

• Molecular biology laboratory environment

• PPE Requirements :

• Safety glasses
• Lab gloves
• Lab coat
• PPE will be provided

Pay Rate/Salary

• Estimated Salary: $30.00 to $38.19 per hour based on qualifications.
