Job Description

Forest Lake Area School District is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of School Bus Mechanic to join our Transportation Department.

Your Role Will Include:

• Diagnose vehicle problems based on driver complaints and inspections.
• Perform repair work with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with state and factory standards.
• Communicate with the Shop Foreman to obtain necessary parts.
• Inspect vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Report immediately to the Shop Foreman if additional work is needed, repairs are unnecessary, or repairs cannot be completed within the promised timeframe.
• Conduct road tests when required and refer unresolved issues to the Shop Foreman.
• Participate in training programs, school expectations, and district events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Foreman.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience or training in diesel or auto repair, or equivalent education, including hands-on experience repairing diesel vehicles such as engine repair and electrical diagnostics.
• CDL with passenger endorsement or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Ability to pass all pre-employment screenings.
• Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per day and lift up to 50 pounds (with assistance).

Salary and Benefits:

• Pay Range: $23.97 – $28.69 per hour , depending on experience.

• $250/month tool allowance. 

Location & Shift Times:

• Transportation Center, 207 NW 6th Ave, Forest Lake, MN 55025.
• FT, 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday, 10 AM - 6:30 PM.
